DEFRA report
DEFRA has complied a report in to sightings of reported exotic species in the UK. Of particular interest is sightings of big cats from 2001 to 2006 of which consisted a total of 60.
In all cases there was no evidence to back up the sightings. No photographic evidence, no animal kill evidence, no paw print evidence.
Granted the majority of sightings can be explained away but it’s the minority of reports that cannot.
I think it is time that DEFRA made it a requirement that veterinarians take DNA samples of any animal kills that are suspected to have been carried out by big cats.
Maybe then we will have the proof we have all been waiting for.

Hi Paul,
I like your website a lot. Having grown up on Bodmin Moor I have seen many suspicious livestock deaths which may have been the result of a Big Cat attack.
In relation to DEFRA taking the lead on Big Cat “enforcement” and making it a legal requirement for vets to take DNA samples I don’t think this is going to happen due to cost. The issue of Big Cats is not a priority and as such I seriously doubt that any funding would be put aside for a task with no clear endpoint.
Keep up the good work though. I really think your investigations are fantastic and really well researched. Just tone down the “government conspiracy” aspect that creeps into some of your articles. Why would the government cover-up big cats?
